With St. Patrick’s Day around the corner, we thought it would be festive to steep a cup of Charleston Tea Plantation Green Tea in celebration!
Just behind black tea, green tea is one of the most popular types of tea on the market. Harvested right here on Charleston Tea Plantation, our green teas come from the same plants as our black teas. The difference between green tea and black tea is actually oxidation, not the types of tea leaf.
The oxidation process involves grinding up the leaves and then exposing the ground leaves to the air. Black tea is often oxidized for 1 to 1.5 hours before being dried. Green tea, on the other hand, is not allowed to oxidize at all. It goes straight from the grinders to the dryer.
We are proud to offer two types of green tea that are made on our plantation, our traditional Green Tea and our Green Tea flavored with Mint. So even if you forget to wear green this St. Patrick’s Day, make sure you’re sipping on one of our green teas so you don’t get pinched!
