Summertime in the south is great for so many reasons. From days at the beach to harvest season here at CTP, there are so many reasons to enjoy summer in the Lowcountry. But one of our absolute favorite parts of summer is that it’s peach season.
Peaches are in season from early June through September, making it the perfect summertime fruit. Because peaches and summer are such a great pair, August has been named National Peach Month. And in South Carolina, there are plenty of reasons to celebrate peaches.
Although Georgia is officially called the Peach State, South Carolina actually produces more peaches than our neighbor to the south. South Carolina produces approximately 60,000 tons of peaches a year, second only to California. Peaches are such a staple of South Carolina farming that the state legislature made the peach the official state fruit of South Carolina in 1984.
As proud residents of South Carolina, all of us at the Charleston Tea Plantation are crazy about peaches. That’s why we’ve incorporated our state fruit into our Plantation PeachⓇ Tea, also grown right here in South Carolina.
With its refreshing, fresh-from-the-farm flavor, Our Plantation Peach Tea has been a favorite with many of our CTP visitors. Whether you enjoy it off the kettle in the mornings or iced during warm Lowcountry afternoons, Plantation Peach is the perfect way to celebrate summer and National Peach Month.
Whether you’re celebrating with peach tea, peach cobbler, or a single peach, the team at Charleston Tea Plantation wishes you a happy- and delicious- National Peach Month!
