While writers Lynn and Cele Seldon live in North Carolina, the couple frequently journeys south to enjoy all that Charleston has to offer. Their new book, 100 Things to Do in Charleston Before You Die, highlights the Holy City’s best restaurants, shops, and activities. They recommend that visitors go paddling with coastal expeditions, hop on a carriage tour, and, our personal favorite, plan a parade of plantations. We are excited to announce that Charleston Tea Plantation is featured on the list of Lowcountry plantations you can’t miss!
The book includes the charming story of an older, wealthy Charlestonian woman who, when asked why she doesn’t travel more often, famously replied: “My dear, why should I travel when I’m already here?” Charleston enjoys a growing reputation for phenomenal Southern cooking, beautiful architecture, and gracious locals.
If you’re planning a visit to the Holy City, make sure to include Charleston Tea Plantation on your travel itinerary!
Here are our top 3 stops to make at Charleston Tea Plantation when you visit:
1. Take a trolley tour.
Hope on our vintage red or green trolley for a comfortable, guided plantation tour. While on the tour, one of our fun, cheerful guides will explain the history of CTP, the tea making process, and our unique tea flavors. You’ll also have the opportunity to admire our beautiful grounds and our greenhouse.
2. Learn about our factory production.
Interested in learning about how tea is made? Come experience our free factory tour for an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look into our production process. Visitors can walk through our facility in an air conditioned gallery. While you view our factory floor and equipment, large TV screens will introduce you to Mr. and Mrs. Bigelow and explain every detail of our tea-making process.
3. Stop in our gift shop.
Come stop in our gift shop and find a little piece of CTP to take home with you. We have a wide selection of tea-related gifts, including fabulous teapots, “tea” shirts, tea infusers, mugs, tea towels, and hundreds of other unique accessories. On your way out, don’t forget to stop by for a photo-op with our mascot, Waddy the Frog!
We’re looking forward to seeing you! If you’d like more information, head on over to CharlestonTeaPlantation.com or to place an order with the Gift Shop, give us a call at 843-559-0383 Ext. 4206. We’d be happy to chat with you! Directions to our plantation can be found here.
